Jim Easton
Category B - Bowhunters who have shown Excellence in the
Design and Manufacturing of Archery Equipment
James L. Easton has worked on
behalf of the sport of archery since entering the sporting goods business
in 1960. He is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Jas. D. Easton,
Inc., a diversified international sporting goods company. Its subsidiaries
include Easton Technical Products, Inc.; Easton Tru-Flite Arrows, LLC;
Hoyt USA, Inc.; Easton Sports, Inc.; Easton Sports Canada and Easton
Sports Mexico.
Jim started working for his father's
company in 1960 and became President of Jas. D. Easton when his father,
Doug Easton passed away in December 1972.
Jim served as the Commissioner for
Archery and Mayor of the Olympic Village for the 1984 Olympic Games in Los
Angeles.
Since 1989, he has served as President
of the International Archery Federation (FITA), the governing body of the
sport of archery. In 1994 he became a member of the International Olympic
Committee (IOC) and in 2002, he was elected to one of the four Vice
President's positions of the IOC. Jim is also a member of the Executive
Committee of the United States Olympic Committee.
